Carlos Tevez has revealed that Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone tried to sign him this summer.
The 31-year-old has returned to Argentina with Boca Juniors following a successful spell in European football with West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus.
Atletico wanted to keep the forward in Europe for one more season, but Tevez has said that he always had his sights on a "return home".
"Simeone called me to go to Atletico Madrid," Tevez told reporters. "I thank him, but I wanted to return home."
Tevez represented Boca between 1997 and 2004.
