Outgoing Australia boss Bert van Marwijk has insisted that the Socceroos have improved during his brief spell in charge.
Speaking at his post-match press conference in the wake of his side's 2-0 defeat to Peru at the World Cup, the Dutchman drew positives from his six-month tenure.
"I liked the period of time I worked with these guys. I learned from them and I learned from their mentality," he said.
"The way they improved, you don't see that that often on this level. I hope they learned something in the past few months. They can learn from good things but also from bad moment."
Graham Arnold is due to take over from Van Marwijk following Australia's World Cup exit.
