Austria have secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over USA in a friendly in Vienna tonight.
Marc Janko's 33rd-minute strike proved the difference between the sides, as Jurgen Klinsmann's men slumped to just their second defeat in 18 international fixtures.
Both teams cancelled each other out in what proved an insipid first half-hour on slippery playing conditions in the Austrian capital.
However, the hosts soon found the breakthrough, with Janko ultimately the beneficiary of a fluent team move.
Bayern Munich's David Alaba cut through the midfield before finding Gyorgy Garics, whose inch-perfect cross was met by the onrushing 30-year-old who smashed home the opener.
The North Americans struggled to find their feet throughout the second half, but Klinsmann's charges failed to create the opportunities necessary to restore parity and Marcel Koller's men held out for the victory.
