Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their Copa del Rey last-16 clash with Unionistas on Thursday.

Barcelona will bid to bounce back from their Supercopa de Espana crushing when they resume Copa del Rey action away to Unionistas in Thursday's last-16 battle.

Xavi's side were taught a footballing lesson in a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday night, where a Vinicius Junior hat-trick and Rodrygo effort rendered Robert Lewandowski's strike inconsequential.

The Blaugrana boss will remain in control of the reins despite their latest disappointment, though, but their 3-2 success over Barbastro in the last phase of the Copa del Rey was far from convincing.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with third-tier Unionistas, who stunned Villarreal on penalties in the last 32.

Joao Cancelo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 21 (vs. Real Betis)

Joao Cancelo missed the entirety of the Super Cup with a knee strain, and while Barcelona have not put a timeframe on his recovery, it would be a surprise to see him involved in Thursday's contest.

Raphinha

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Raphinha was a casualty of Barca's Super Cup semi-final success over Osasuna, coming off with a hamstring injury in the first half, and he is expected to spend a few weeks on the treatment table.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: Unknown

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is on the long road to recovery from a back operation, and the Germany international is not expected to take to the field again until the middle of February.

Inigo Martinez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Inigo Martinez had only just made his return from a previous injury before damaging his hamstring against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, and while the severity of his issue has not yet been ascertained either, he has no chance of making the cut for this one.

Gavi

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Much-coveted midfielder Gavi sustained a devastating ACL injury while representing Spain in November, and the former Kopa Trophy winner will spend the remainder of the season in the infirmary.

Marcos Alonso

Status: Out
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: Unknown

As is the case with Ter Stegen, Marcos Alonso has also gone under the knife to address a back injury, and it could be a couple of months before the left-back is seen in Barca colours again.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Ronald Araujo

Return date: January 21 (vs. Real Betis)

Ronald Araujo was dismissed for a pair of bookable offences in Barca's Supercopa de Espana final defeat to Real over the weekend, and the Uruguayan will serve a one-match suspension in Thursday's tie.

Lamine Yamal

Return date: January 21 (vs. Real Betis)

Due to a previous red card from a youth team match, Lamine Yamal missed the win over Barbastro due to suspension, and the 16-year-old must complete his two-game cup punishment this week.
