Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga opener with Valencia.
Sports Mole

Barcelona will be bidding to get their 2024-25 La Liga campaign off to the perfect start when they head to Mestalla on Saturday evening to tackle Valencia.

Hansi Flick's side will enter the contest off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The Catalan giants finished second behind Real Madrid in La Liga last season, but they will be aiming to finish at the summit for the 28th time in their history in 2024-25.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Valencia, who finished ninth in Spain's top flight last term.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona remain without the services of Fati, who picked up a foot injury at the end of last month, and it is currently unclear when the Spaniard could return to action.

Ronald Araujo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Araujo will be on the sidelines until the latter stages of this year due to the hamstring operation that he underwent in the middle of July.

Frenkie de Jong

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

De Jong missed the end of last season with an ankle problem and was also absent for the Netherlands at Euro 2024. The midfielder has not been involved in Barcelona's pre-season, meanwhile, and he is also set to miss out against Valencia, with a return date unclear at this stage of proceedings.

Gavi

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gavi is still recovering from the serious knee injury that he suffered while representing Spain towards the end of last year, but the midfielder is expected back before the end of 2024.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no players suspended for the league clash, but Dani Olmo will not feature, as the new signing is yet to be registered with La Liga.
