Barcelona will be without the services of seven first-team players for Friday's La Liga clash with Mallorca.

Gavi and Alejandro Balde are the long-term absentees for the Catalan giants, with the pair set to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign with serious knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

Marcos Alonso is also still unavailable for selection due to a back problem, while the match will come too soon for Ferran Torres, who is in the latter stages of his recovery from a thigh injury.

Frenkie de Jong and Pedri both suffered injuries in the goalless draw with Athletic Bilbao last weekend, with the duo facing time out with ankle and hamstring issues respectively.

There had been fears that Pedri could require an operation which would end his season, but Barcelona boss Xavi said on Thursday that the injury was 'not as serious as first feared'.

Six Barcelona players are out of this match through injury, while Ronald Araujo is also unavailable for selection due to the yellow card that he picked up against Athletic last time out.

Araujo will be back for next week's Champions League last-16 second leg with Napoli, while the club are also hopeful that Torres will be fit enough to make the bench.

Xavi's side are level at 1-1 with Napoli from the first leg of their contest, and the La Liga champions will be looking to finish the job in front of their own supporters on March 12.

Barcelona are also still fighting for the La Liga title, currently sitting third in the table, eight points behind leaders Real Madrid, so the gap would become five points with a win over Mallorca.

Highly-rated defender Mikayil Faye is in the senior squad for the first time, while there are also spots for the likes of Unai Hernandez, Marc Casado, Marc Guiu, Hector Fort and Diego Kochen.

Xavi confirmed on Thursday that he is planning to make changes for the clash with Mallorca.

"We will probably make some changes compared to the other day. We have to think about the players, not because Tuesday is a Champions League game," he said.

"We are thinking about fatigue, the accumulation of minutes... not because Tuesday is an important game."

Barcelona are unbeaten since Xavi announced at the end of January that he would be standing down as head coach this summer, winning four and drawing three of their last seven games in all competitions.

Barcelona squad vs. Mallorca:

Ter Stegen, Pena, Kochen; Cancelo, Martinez, Christensen, Kounde, Cubarsi, Fort, Faye; F Lopez, Romeu, Roberto, Gundogan, Casado, U Hernadez; Lewandowski, Raphinha, Felix, Roque, Yamal, Guiu
