Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Mallorca

:Headline: Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Mallorca:
Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga clash with Mallorca on Friday.
Sports Mole

Barcelona will be looking to climb into second place in the La Liga table when they welcome Mallorca to Camp Nou on Friday night.

The Catalan giants have put together a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, although they were forced to play out a goalless draw with Athletic Bilbao last weekend.

Xavi's side, who currently sit third in the top-flight table and just one point behind second-placed Girona, will be seeking revenge against Mallorca after they were held to a 2-2 draw by the Pirates in September.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Javier Aguirre's men, who beat Girona 1-0 last weekend.

Frenkie de Jong

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona have confirmed that Frenkie de Jong sustained a lateral ligament sprain in his right ankle against Bilbao and he is currently unavailable for selection, with head coach Xavi fearing that the midfielder could be sidelined for a "long time".

Pedri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona have also confirmed that Pedri picked up an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh against Bilbao; like De Jong, the playmaker is unavailable for selection and could be sidelined for a "long time" according to Xavi.

Gavi

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gavi sustained an ACL injury while representing Spain in November last year and the midfielder is set to miss the rest of the 2023-24 campaign.

Alejandro Balde

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Alejandro Balde underwent hamstring surgery at the end of January and the left-back is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Marcos Alonso

Status: Out
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: Unknown

Alonso underwent back surgery earlier this year and the defender is facing a race against time to return before the season comes to an end.

Ferran Torres

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Mallorca)

Ferran Torres has missed Barcelona's last six games with a thigh injury, but the attacker could be in a position to return to the matchday squad on Friday.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no suspended players for this match.
