Good afternoon and welcome to
Sports Mole's live text coverage of the La Liga clash between Osasuna and
Barcelona from Pamplona - should be a good one!
Osasuna have made a positive start to the 2019-20 campaign - picking up four points from their two matches to sit seventh in the table heading into their third game. Barca, meanwhile, suffered a 1-0 loss at Athletic Bilbao on the opening night of the season before returning to winning ways last weekend - thumping Real Betis 5-2 on home soil. Stay tuned for live updates!
TEAMS!OSASUNA: Ruben; Vidal, Aridane, Garcia, Estupinan; Garcia, Merida, Oier, Torres; Llamas, Avila
BARCELONA: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Roberto, Busquets, De Jong; Rafinha, Griezmann, Perez
Osasuna, who have drawn with Eibar and won at Leganes thus far this season, will once again be in a 4-4-2 this afternoon with Chimy Avila playing up alongside Brandon Llamas, who has come in for Marc Cardona. There is a spot in the middle of the park for Oier, while former Barcelona youngster Fran Merida also earns a starting role in Pamplona.
As for Barca, Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are all still injured, meaning that Rafinha and Carles Perez again start in the final third of the field. It is actually the same team that started against Betis last weekend, meaning that Ivan Rakitic is again on the bench amid the speculation surrounding his future. Antoine Griezmann will be hoping to fire once again.
KICKOFF: Barca kick things off this afternoon...
... it must be said that there is a wonderful atmosphere inside the stadium this afternoon. Can Osasuna record a famous victory over the Spanish champions? The hosts are on the front foot early on.
As expected, Griezmann is again playing through the middle for Barca with Rafinha and Perez in the wide positions. Meanwhile, Llamas is alongside Avila in a 4-4-2 for the home side. Not too much to report in terms of early chances in the first four minutes of this match.
GOAL! OSASUNA 1-0 BARCELONA (TORRES)
GOAL! Osasuna make the breakthrough in the early stages of this match as
Roberto Torres scores a spectacular volley from close range! It was some contact from the Spaniard, and the ball flew past Ter Stegen. Huge moment in this game as the home side take the lead!
Barca fell behind against Betis last weekend before coming back to win, and the champions will need to respond again in this match. The home fans continue to drive their side forward.
Plenty of possession for Barca since the goal but the champions are yet to threaten to level the scores. It is a similar start to the game against Betis - it took Valverde's side time.
Quite a busy period of the match for the referee at the moment with challenges flying in all over the park - it would not be a surprise to see a yellow card produced here.
YELLOW CARD! Merida (Osasuna) picks up a booking for a heavy challenge on Griezmann.
Barca continue to keep the ball without really threatening to level the scores. This is going to be a tough afternoon for the visitors when considering the players they are missing once again.
Torres continues to cause problems in a wide area and once again delivers a dangerous cross towards Merida, only for Pique to make the clearance. Still 1-0 to the home side here.
Llamas is again the target as Torres dances past Alba before delivering from the opposite side, but Lenglet makes the clearance. Rafinha is then denied on the break down the other end.
It is Barca's turn to enjoy a bit of possession in the opposition half, although Osasuna comfortably manage to deal with a couple of crosses into their box. Not too much from Griezmann, but he also struggled in the early stages against Betis before coming to life.
All Barca in terms of possession at the moment but not too much is happening for the Spanish champions. Roberto has just had a shot blocked on the edge of the box, though.
Barca have a concern over Perez here after the attacker hit the deck following a high challenge. Looked to be more of an impact injury and therefore he should be fine to continue.
Pass, pass, pass from Barca as they attempt to work some space, but Osasuna are very tight in their defensive shape. Not too many chances to report since the goal went in.
Little over 15 minutes of the first period remaining and not too much has changed - Barca are still dominating the ball without really threatening to level the scores in Pamplona.
Both sets of players are heading off the field for a short hydration break, which is not much of a surprise. Valverde looks fairly animated as he hands out instructions to his team.
YELLOW CARD! Roberto (Barcelona) is booked for a push on Vidal.
This is the type of match where Messi would pull something out of the bag for Barca, or Luis Suarez would score a spectacular goal. Neither are available this afternoon, though, and therefore the likes of Griezmann, Rafinha and Perez have to produce for the away side.
SHOT! Alba strikes one from outside the box but his effort was always moving wide of the post. First signs of frustration for the away side, which led to a strike from distance.
Osasuna continue to have joy in the wide positions with Torres and Llamas, who combined for the goal, finding all sorts of time and space - that will be a concern for Valverde here.
YELLOW CARD! De Jong (Barcelona) is booked for a foul on Torres.
Little under five minutes of the first period remaining, and not too much is happening at the moment. Barca are having loads of the ball but not doing too much with it here.
It has not been the best half in terms of entertainment to be brutally honest - Barca have been really, really poor. Not a single chance of note to report for the away side here.
YELLOW CARD! Llamas (Osasuna) picks up a booking for a poor tackle on Lenglet.
Lenglet is still down for Barca - it was a heavy challenge on the Frenchman.
We are into the first of four added minutes at the end of the first period.
Not an awful lot to report in the stoppage-time period with both teams guilty of losing the ball. It really has been a poor first-half performance from the Spanish champions here.
Barca have a shout for a penalty as Alba goes down inside the box, but the referee is not interested. There has been a VAR check and the play continues. Close one!
HALF TIME: OSASUNA 1-0 BARCELONA
So there we have it - the referee brings the first half to a close with Osasuna leading 1-0 courtesy of a brilliant strike from Roberto Torres. Barca have had some decent moments in the final third but have not created a single serious chance. There is work to do for the champions!
STATISTICS! Barca had 75% of the ball in the first period, but both of their shots were off target. Osasuna, meanwhile, managed one shot on target from three attempts. There have actually been four bookings in the first half - Roberto and De Jong picking up yellow cards for Barca, and Merida and Llamas for the home side. There could easily be a red card in the second period.
BENCH WATCH! Barca have the likes of Rakitic,
Arthur and Vidal on their bench here, while 16-year-old Fati, who made his debut against Betis, is also available. Osasuna, meanwhile, have the likes of Ibanez, Adrian, Villar and Brasanac on what is a talented bench here.
KICKOFF: Osasuna resume the action here...
... no changes from either side at the break, which is not too much of a surprise. However, you suspect that both managers will have alterations in mind as the second period develops.
Suffering a second league defeat at this stage of the campaign would be huge for Barca - there is still a long way to go in this game but they do not look like scoring at the moment.
Barca attempt to engineer a route through as Griezmann combines with Busquets in a dangerous area, only for Oier to come across and make the clearance. Still 1-0 to Osasuna.
GOAL! OSASUNA 1-1 BARCELONA (FATI)
GOAL! Oh my word!
Anssumane Fati, who is just 16 years of age, has equalised early in the second period - heading a cross from Perez into the bottom corner of the net. Huge moment!
Apologies but we appear to have missed an update earlier - Fati replaced Semedo at the half-time interval, and the 16-year-old has scored on just his second appearance for the first team.
BARCELONA SUB! Arthur replaces Rafinha for the away side.
Barca are very much on the front foot at the moment with Osasuna struggling to keep hold of the ball - suddenly the home side are not so calm as the pressure continues here.
What a huge, huge moment for the youngster...
Little over 30 minutes of the second period remaining, and you do get the feeling that we have not seen the last of the goals. All Barca at the moment in terms of pressure here.
SAVE! Smart save from the home side's goalkeeper to keep out a strike from Griezmann.
SAVE! Ter Stegen has to keep out a decent strike from Llamas as the score stays level.
Griezmann has been fairly quiet for Barca this afternoon but there is still more than enough time for the France international to make a telling impact. It remains 1-1 in this La Liga clash.
It must be said that Fati looks very, very good for Barca. Just 16, surely there will be chances in the first team even when the likes of Dembele, Luis Suarez and Messi return to fitness.
GOAL! OSASUNA 1-2 BARCELONA (ARTHUR)
GOAL! Barca complete the turnaround in the 64th minute as Arthur finds space just inside the Osasuna box before picking out the bottom corner with an excellent finish!
OSASUNA SUB! Ibanez replaces R Garcia in Osasuna's first change.
You do get the feeling that there is another goal in this match with both teams committing players in the final third of the field. Osasuna are seemingly far from finished here.
Little over 20 minutes of the second period remaining, and Osasuna are currently the team on the front foot with plenty of players driving forward. Torres remains a huge threat.
OSASUNA SUB! Osasuna make their second change as Moncayola replaces Merida.
Osasuna continue to find space in dangerous positions as Torres delivers deep towards the far post, but Pique does really well to make the clearance under pressure.
Fati goes down inside the Osasuna box and Barca look for a possible penalty decision, only for the referee to raise his flag for an earlier offside. Still 2-1 to the champions here.
SAVE! Smart save from Ter Stegen to keep out a curling effort from Torres.
OSASUNA SUB! The hosts make their third and final change as Llamas is replaced by Villar.
SAVE! Some introduction from Villar, who forces Ter Stegen to make an excellent save with a strike from distance! Osasuna are not going down without a fight here.
PENALTY! OSASUNA! Osasuna have a penalty as Pique handles inside the box!
GOAL! OSASUNA 2-2 BARCELONA (TORRES, PEN)
GOAL! Roberto Torres finds the bottom corner with a super penalty to level the scores!
YELLOW CARD! Pique (Barcelona) picks up a yellow card for dissent.
BARCELONA SUB! Vidal replaces De Jong for the away side.
Little over five minutes of the second period remaining, and you do get the feeling that there is another goal in this match. Osasuna really deserve at least a point for their troubles.
Barca are the team on the front foot at the moment with the champions looking to grab a late winner - Fati has just driven into the Osasuna box, only to be challenged by Vidal.
Osasuna are very much on the back foot at the moment, which is a dangerous tactic as Barca certainly have the players to harm the home side in tight areas. Not long left, though.
CHANCE! Huge chance for Barca to score a second as Perez finds himself unmarked inside the Osasuna box - the attacker stalls, though, and is pounced on by the goalkeeper!
Into stoppage time in Pamplona and the score remains 2-2 - Osasuna would be well worth a share of the spoils, while Barca could count themselves fairly fortunate.
Four additional minutes were signalled and therefore there is time for a winner in the closing stages. It will have to come soon, though. Play continues here.
Not long left now and Barca have just pumped the ball into the home side's box.
FULL TIME: OSASUNA 2-2 BARCELONA
So there we have it - the referee brings the second period to a close with Osasuna holding Barca in Pamplona. What a result for the home side! Thanks for joining Sports Mole for our live coverage once again. See you soon!
