Barcelona 'to avoid playing Yusuf Demir due to transfer clause'

Barcelona reportedly plan to drop Yusuf Demir until February in order to avoid triggering an £8.5m buy option from Rapid Vienna next month.

Barcelona may reportedly drop Yusuf Demir from the team for a couple of months to avoid triggering an £8.5m permanent transfer.

The 18-year-old arrived at Camp Nou from Rapid Vienna on loan for the 2021-22 season and has already turned out six times in La Liga and three times in the Champions League.

An option to buy is reported to be included in the terms of Demir's loan deal, which will supposedly be triggered if the teenager plays 10 games for the club.

In order to avoid paying the fee in January, Sky Deutschland reports that cash-strapped Barca are prepared to leave Demir out of the team until the transfer window closes.

The report claims that Demir will return to action afterwards, with Barcelona preferring to see the £8.5m chunk taken out of their summer budget instead.

Demir scored nine goals and set up three more in 33 games for Rapid Vienna last term but is yet to get off the mark for Xavi's side. body check tags ::
