Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas will reportedly remain with the Spain squad even if he is deemed unfit to take part in their international friendly against Italy on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old picked up a muscular injury in Barca's 4-1 win over Almeria at the weekend, but reported to international duty on Monday.
Although the injury is not regarded as serious, it is understood that Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino is not keen for the midfielder to be risked for his country.
According to AS, Fabregas will remain with Spain even if he is unable to take part as head coach Vicente del Bosque prepares his squad for the World Cup.
Fabregas has 86 caps for his country.
