Former Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino is reportedly close to taking charge of Argentina.
AFA secretary Miguel Silva has confirmed that a deal is close to completion, with 'economic issues' the only aspect of the deal holding up proceedings.
"Our first candidate is Martino," Silva told reporters.
"If we agree with the economic issue and the agreements that everyone seeks, Martino will be the new coach."
Should all matters be agreed, Martino, who left his position with Barcelona at the end of last season, will replace Alejandro Sabella at the helm of the South American team.
