Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has successfully appealed against a yellow card he received after being struck by a bottle during his side's 1-0 win against Valencia.
The controversial booking was rescinded after the Argentina international pleaded his case to the Spanish Football Federation.
Messi had the object thrown at him by a home supporter after Sergio Busquet scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner for Barca, only to be shown a yellow card when he complained to the official.
Referee Fernandez Borbalan ruled that the forward delayed his return to the pitch in order to waste time, but Spanish football's governing body has now stricken the card from Messi's record.
The Ballon d'Or nominee would not have missed any game time due to the booking, but it has been scrapped nevertheless.
