Barcelona have confirmed that Neymar has suffered an injury blow to his ankle just two days before the club's La Liga opener against Elche on Sunday.
The Spanish giants, who will be without summer signing Luis Suarez until October due to his four-month FIFA ban, have revealed that the Brazil international picked up the problem in training this week.
A statement on Barca's official website said: "Following the Thursday training session Neymar Jr complained about some pain in his left ankle, and tests have confirmed that the player has a Grade 1 ankle sprain.
"The club's medical team has indicated that his return to training will depend on how the injury treatment evolves."
Neymar scored twice in Barca's 6-0 win over Club Leon in their friendly on Monday after fully recovering from a back injury, which he suffered playing for Brazil in the World Cup.
