Andre Silva's late goal is enough to give AC Milan a 1-0 victory over Barcelona in Saturday's International Champions Cup encounter in Santa Clara, California.

AC Milan have secured a late 1-0 win over a much-changed Barcelona side in Saturday's International Champions Cup encounter in Santa Clara.

Andre Silva scored with the last kick of the game as the Rossoneri punished the Blaugrana for failing to take their chances at the Levi's Stadium.

Barca began brightly and threatened inside the first minute, Paco Alcacer forcing Gianluigi Donnarumma into a smart save low down to his right.

Milan's first concrete chance fell to Fabio Borini, who took aim from around 12 yards out but saw his effort charged down by Marlon, leading to half-hearted penalty appeals.

The Catalan giants enjoyed nearly 70% of possession and weighed in with seven shots, including a Munir El Haddadi effort that struck the post, but the scores remained level at the break.

Both sides made multiple changes for the restart and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, on for Jasper Cillessen in the Barca goal, had to be alert to deny Hakan Calhanoglu, Patrick Cutrone and Suso.

At the other end, Donnarumma tipped a Malcom strike over the bar, while a Sergi Roberto effort was deflected wide.

Just as it looked as though a penalty shootout would be needed to separate the two teams, Calhanoglu and Franck Kessie combined to slip Silva clean through on goal for a composed 92nd-minute finish.

AC MILAN (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Calabria (Silva 61'), Musacchio (Bonaventura 79'), Romagnoli, Rodríguez (Abate 61'); Kessie, Locatelli (Antonelli 61'), Calhanoglu; Suso (Zapata 79'), Cutrone (Jankovic 61'), Borini (Halilovic 62')

BARCELONA (4-3-3): Cillessen (Ter Stegen 45'); Semedo, Barbosa (Ruiz 77'), Lenglet, Miranda; Rafinha (Mingueza 77')), Roberto, Melo; Munir, Alcacer (Puig 45'), Silva
