Xavi has confirmed that he is in regular contact with newly-elected Barcelona president Joan Laporta amid links with the managerial job at Camp Nou.
Club legend Xavi has been repeatedly touted as a contender to replace Ronald Koeman should the Dutchman be sacked at the end of the campaign.
The 41-year-old has spent the past two years in charge of Al-Sadd and won his fifth trophy in management last month with a 2-0 win over Al-Duhail in the Qatari Cup final.
Laporta was previously president of Barca between 2003 and 2010 when Xavi was still at the club, and he was reappointed for a second time last week.
Xavi is happy with the election vote and expects good times to return to Barca after a difficult spell for the Catalan giants.
"Laporta is a good friend. I know him very well," Xavi told beIN SPORTS. "He is the best president I have ever had.
"Barca will return both in terms of sporting and economic results. There are problems to solve but you can do it all. I wish him well. I am in contact with him and I am very happy."
Xavi is Barca's joint-record appearance maker, but the former midfielder can be overtaken by Lionel Messi later this week. body check tags ::
