Barcelona are reportedly weighing up potential moves for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Goncalo Guedes.
With Memphis Depay set to join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid for a fee between €3m (£2.6m) and €4m (£3.5m), Barcelona are considering whether to use the funds in the January transfer window.
Following Barcelona's comfortable 5-0 victory over third-tier side Cueta in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, Xavi indicated that he was keen to strengthen his squad this month.
According to Marca, the Barcelona hierarchy are currently deliberating whether to delve into the transfer market, or use the funds they are set to receive from Depay's imminent departure to improve the contracts of Alejandro Balde, Ronald Araujo and Gavi.
The report claims that should the Catalans decide to bolster their ranks, then they could move for at least one of Brozovic or Guedes.
Barcelona supposedly offered Franck Kessie to Inter in exchange for Brozovic, and while the Italian giants appear reluctant to the idea, the La Liga side are still targeting the Croatia international.
Brozovic was linked with a move away last year, before he signed a new deal in March, which is set to expire in June 2026.
The 30-year-old has had to settle for 12 appearances this season due to injury issues, but he has still chipped in with two goals.
Since joining Inter in 2016, Brozovic has gone on to score 30 goals and provide 37 assists in 302 appearances across all competitions, winning one Serie A title, one Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups.
While Xavi would like to recruit the Croatian, Guedes is also on Barcelona's radar after struggling to find his best form for Wolves.
The Portugal international only joined the Midlands club from Valencia last summer, but he has only started eight of his 17 Premier League appearances, contributing one goal and one assist in the English topflight.
According to AS, Barcelona are considering a six-month loan deal for Guedes with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Guedes has allegedly told his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he wants to sign for Barcelona, although he is also attracting interest from Atletico Madrid and Benfica.
The 26-year-old fared well in his time with Valencia, registering 36 goals and 30 assists in 177 appearances in all competitions, and winning the Copa del Rey in the 2018-19 season.
Barcelona, who won the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid last weekend, are currently preparing to face Getafe on Sunday, as they look to at least maintain their three-point gap over Carlo Ancelotti's side at the top of the La Liga table. body check tags ::
