Bournemouth have reportedly identified Barcelona goalkeeper Neto as a potential summer signing.
Having earned a return to the Premier League, the Cherries are currently preparing for their opening fixture of the season against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
However, head coach Scott Parker is known to be keen to make further additions on the back of signing Marcus Tavernier from Middlesbrough earlier this week.
According to the Daily Mail, Parker has set his sights on trying to secure a deal for out-of-favour Barcelona stopper Neto.
The 33-year-old has spent the last three seasons at Camp Nou, making just 21 appearances for the Catalan giants in all competitions.
While the Brazilian could have theoretically remained in his current role for another 12 months, both parties are keen to secure an exit before the start of September.
Given the amount of signings which have already been made, Barcelona are keen to reduce their numbers and Neto is on a list of players who could potentially move elsewhere.
Furthermore, Neto is keen to earn regular football during 2022-23, leading to interest from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.
The former Valencia man had been linked with Bournemouth's rivals Fulham, but the Cottagers have since signed Bernd Leno from Arsenal.
Should Neto make the switch to the Vitality Stadium, there would be no guarantees that he would be able to dislodge current incumbent Mark Travers.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper made 45 appearances in the Championship last season, his performances resulting in two individual accolades come the end of the campaign.
As well as winning the EFL Championship Golden Glove award, the 23-year-old was also named as the club's Player of the Year.
Bournemouth require more competition between the sticks, however, with Will Dennis, who has spent the majority of his young career on loan in non-league, currently acting as backup to Travers. body check tags ::
