Barcelona are reportedly preparing to activate a one-year option in Dani Alves's contract, which will keep the Brazilian at Camp Nou until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
The 38-year-old secured a return to the Catalan giants in the latter stages of last year and has made six appearances for the club since being registered in January.
Alves's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of June, but according to Marca, there is a clause in the contract allowing Barcelona to activate a further 12 months.
The report claims that the club have been delighted with the right-back's contribution since his return and are planning to keep hold of him until June 2023.
Barcelona boss Xavi allegedly views his former teammate as a strong leader in a young dressing room, while the South American's versatility also makes him a vital member of the squad.
Alves has not been named in his side's Europa League squad this season, but he has played three times in La Liga since his return, including the full 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao last weekend. body check tags ::
