Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has dismissed claims from Johan Cruyff that the club should be looking to sell Lionel Messi.
The Dutch legend stated earlier this week that Barca should be open to the possibility of selling the four-time Ballon d'Or winner following the arrival of Neymar.
However, Fabregas has said that such a scenario is "unthinkable" and believes that Messi is fundamental to Barca's success.
"It is unthinkable for Messi not to be part of this club," Fabregas told Sport.
"Leo is the most important player – he has no equal. Remove Messi and you may not lose everything, but you do run out of a large part of what makes this team tick.
"His individual efforts are so big that they contribute to the whole team and the club in general."
Messi scored 46 goals in La Liga last season.
