Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Hugo Bueno is reportedly on Barcelona's radar, with the Catalan giants determined to sign a new left-back during next summer's transfer window.
Bueno, 22, is currently on loan from Wolves at Feyenoord, and he has been a vital player for the Dutch outfit during the 2024-25 campaign, making 10 appearances in all competitions, providing three assists in the process.
The Spaniard made the move to Wolves in 2019, progressing through the academy system at Molineux before making his first-team debut in 2022, and he has represented his parent club on 49 occasions, scoring once and providing one assist.
According to SPORT, Barcelona want to sign a back-up for Alejandro Balde next year, and the club have identified Bueno as the ideal acquisition, considering that he is likely to be available for an affordable fee.
Gerard Martin is currently the back-up to Balde, and the 22-year-old has made 11 appearances for Hansi Flick's side this season, but he could be on the move during next summer's transfer window.
Barcelona 'interested in deal for Wolves defender Bueno'
Bueno has represented Spain at Under-21s level; he has not yet been considered for selection for the senior team, but his performances for Feyenoord during the 2024-25 campaign have been impressive.
The defender has a contract at Molineux until June 2028, but Wolves are unlikely to stand in his way if a suitable offer were to arrive during next summer's transfer window, especially from a club of Barcelona's ilk.
Balde has again been Barcelona's first-choice left-back during the current season, making 15 appearances in all competitions, contributing three assists in the process.
There has been talk surrounding potential January incomings at Barcelona, but the club's sporting director Deco has revealed that the Catalan giants are not planning to make any signings during the winter market.
Barcelona are planning a quiet January transfer window
"We have been talking since the summer. The squad is fine," Deco told Mundo Deportivo. "We had the problem of [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen that we had not foreseen but that was covered by another goalkeeper.
"At the beginning of the season, we knew that we would recover Gavi at some point and Frenkie [de Jong]. We did not expect [Ronald] Araujo and [Andreas] Christensen but they will also recover.
"Soon we will have Christensen, Araujo, Ferran [Torres] and Eric [Garcia] available, that will be four more players. I think we have a fairly well-covered squad in all positions."
Barcelona suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in La Liga before the November international break, and the Catalan outfit will be bidding to return to winning ways when they travel to Celta Vigo on November 23.
