Robert Lewandowski was reportedly offered a €60m (£50m)-a-year salary to leave Barcelona during the summer transfer window, but the experienced striker made it clear that he did not want to end his time at Camp Nou.

The 36-year-old made the move to Barcelona from Bayern Munich in July 2022, and he has represented the Catalan outfit on 100 occasions, scoring 63 goals and registering 19 assists in the process.

Last term, Lewandowski managed 26 goals and nine assists in 49 outings in all competitions, but there had been some speculation surrounding his future earlier this year.

The Poland international has another two years left to run on his current deal, with the option of a further 12 months, and it had been claimed that Barcelona were open to a sale.

According to Carrusel Deportivo, an unnamed Saudi Arabian outfit offered Lewandowski a salary worth €60m (£50m) a year, but he was quick to turn down the mega-money deal.

Lewandowski 'rejected' lucrative switch to Saudi Arabia

Lewandowski has been in impressive form for Hansi Flick's side in the early stages of the new season, scoring four goals and registering two assists in five La Liga appearances.

The experienced striker is believed to be interested in moving to Saudi Arabia before the end of his career, but he is showing no signs of becoming a spent force at the top level.

"I know Robert (Lewandowski) really well and I don't think he has returned to form because that's how I have always seen him as a player," Flick told DAZN last month.

"I'm happy with him because it's not only the goals he scores, it's his collective effort, the way he dedicates himself to pressing high and very effectively.

"Physically, he is 100%. He is a total professional, who takes fitness very seriously. He knows how to handle pressure and we saw that after the equaliser in the second half. He is a great player."

Raphinha was also linked with a summer move to Saudi Arabia

Another of Barcelona's starting forwards was heavily linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia during the recent transfer window, with Raphinha said to be the subject of huge interest.

A recent report claimed that the Brazil international turned down a €100m (£84.5m) move to Al-Hilal during the summer market.

Barcelona would also have allegedly received a a €100m (£84.5m) transfer fee for Raphinha, but the 27-year-old made it clear that he wanted to stay at Camp Nou.

Like Lewandowski, Raphinha has been in strong form for the La Liga leaders in the early stages of the season, scoring three times and registering three assists in five appearances. body check tags ::
