Ronald Koeman has revealed that he is open to using Luis Suarez in his Barcelona squad this season.
In the days after his arrival at Camp Nou, it was claimed that Koeman informed the 33-year-old that he did not feature in his plans going forward.
That has led to frequent speculation regarding the Uruguay international's future, with a switch to Serie A or Atletico Madrid seemingly a possibility.
However, if a deal does not materialise over the coming weeks, Koeman has insisted that Suarez will be under consideration for selection.
Speaking to TV3, the Dutchman said: "Suarez will be one more [member of the squad] if he stays.
"I was talking to Luis this morning. We will wait to see if there is a way out or not. We respect contracts and, from day one, we have said that if he stays on the squad, it will be one more."
While Suarez is currently in Italy to undergo a language examination, a move to Juventus has effectively been scrapped due to the Serie A champions instead moving for Edin Dzeko.
