Lionel Messi is reportedly keen for Paris Saint-Germain to put together a swap proposal involving Mauro Icardi and Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine superstar has endured a relatively slow start to life at Parc des Princes, contributing just three goals from six appearances in all competitions.

However, each of those strikes have come in the Champions League, and it appears that the 34-year-old wants to work with a different compatriot going forward.

According to El Nacional, Messi would prefer to play alongside Aguero, despite his fellow frontman having only just linked up with Barcelona.

Aguero allegedly felt inclined to sign for the Catalan giants due to the presence of Messi, only for the club legend to be forced away from Camp Nou due to their financial limitations.

While Icardi has been provided with regular first-team football this season, it has been suggested that the 28-year-old could be sacrificed to accommodate Aguero.
