Borussia Monchengladbach director of sport Max Eberl has revealed that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has rejected a contract extension from the Bundesliga club.
The 21-year-old German has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months as the Spanish champions look to replace Victor Valdes ahead of next season.
Talks between Ter Stegen and Monchengladbach had been ongoing, but the youngster has now decided not to extend his terms at the Stadion im Borussia-Park.
"Marc has told us that he will not accept our offer," Eberl is quoted as saying by the team's official website.
Ter Stegen's current deal with Monchengladbach is due to expire in the summer of 2015.
