Basel manager Paulo Sousa has labelled his side's victory over Liverpool in the Champions League as a "historic" moment for the club.
Marco Streller's 53rd-minute goal proved enough to separate the two sides at St Jakob-Park in the Group B encounter last night.
The win lifts Basel above their opponents in the standings, and Sousa says that the Swiss outfit will take real belief away from the game.
"We have given ourselves a huge amount of confidence with this success," the 44-year-old is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo. "It gives us a boost. We were proactive in the game and didn't just wait for them.
"That was decisive. Our fans gave us tremendous support. It was glorious, historic – for me, the players, the fans and the club."
Basel, who currently lead the way in their domestic league, travel to face Gallen on the weekend.
