Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Roberto Hilbert has admitted that his side were punished for their defensive errors in the 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The result in the first leg of the last-16 tie means that Bayer must now beat PSG by five goals in the return leg to get through, and for Hilbert the match in Paris is just for pride.
"If you think about how hard the team fought last season to reach the Champions League and then the knockout stage, this game is a huge disappointment," he told UEFA.com.
"If you make a couple of mistakes against a team like PSG, they will exploit those mistakes without mercy, and honestly I believe they did not even show everything they are capable of. We are now going to Paris and will try to prove ourselves as well as we can. We don't have much choice."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice at the BayArena.
