Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Gotze has insisted that the freezing cold temperatures and hard pitch made it difficult for his side to play their usual game against CSKA Moscow.
Gotze said that, despite how tough it was, it was vital to get the win in order to break Barcelona's nine-game winning streak in the Champions League.
"It was a really difficult game," UEFA.com quotes Gotze as saying. "On Saturday we played Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and then we faced a long journey to Moscow where we encountered some difficult conditions.
"All these factors had an impact on the way we played. The most important thing is that we managed to play to the best of our ability and get three points. I am really pleased we managed to win here and set a record of ten consecutive victories in the Champions League."
Bayern have 15 points from a possible 15 so far in Group D.
