Sports Mole provides score predictions for this weekend's Bundesliga matches, including the derby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04.

Augsburg vs. Wolfsburg (Saturday, 2.30pm)

The Bundesliga will become the first major league to return amid the coronavirus pandemic this weekend, with a full set of fixtures ending a shutdown which has lasted for more than two months.

It is not quite business as usual with all matches taking place behind closed doors, but Augsburg and Wolfsburg still have work to do regardless when they face off at the WWK Arena, almost exactly one year on from Wolfsburg beating the same opponents 8-1.

We say: Augsburg 0-1 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg beat Augsburg 8-1 almost exactly a year ago to the day that this fixture takes place, but the goalless draw in the reverse is likely to be much closer to what will happen this time around.

It remains to be seen what fitness levels will be like yet alone the rustiness of players on the ball, so we are expecting a low-scoring affair which Wolfsburg will just about edge.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Schalke (Saturday, 2.30pm)

Borussia Dortmund will be looking for their fifth Bundesliga victory in a row when they welcome rivals Schalke 04 to Signal Iduna Park for the Revierderby on Saturday afternoon.

The coronavirus outbreak has caused the league to be shut down for more than two months, but the action will return this weekend with a full set of fixtures in Germany's top flight.

We say: Dortmund 2-0 Schalke

It is difficult to know what to expect from both sides considering what has happened over the last couple of months. The lack of fans inside the stadium is sure to have some sort of impact, but we still fancy Dortmund to continue their impressive run of form with a routine home victory against their rivals.

Dusseldorf vs. Paderborn (Saturday, 2.30pm)

Two teams in desperate need of three points will lock horns in Dusseldorf on Saturday afternoon as Fortuna Dusseldorf take on SC Paderborn in the Bundesliga.

Germany's top flight has been on hold for more than two months due to the coronavirus outbreak, but the action will resume this weekend, and both of these sides will be determined to pick up a win.

We say: Dusseldorf 2-1 Paderborn

There is simply no downplaying the importance of Saturday's clash in Dusseldorf. Both teams have had their problems this season, but we fancy Dusseldorf to collect all three points with a narrow win.

Hoffenheim vs. Hertha Berlin (Saturday, 2.30pm)

Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin will be aiming to end their winless runs when they face off on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga's return.

Both teams hit a bad run of form prior to the division's coronavirus-enforced shutdown in March and must quickly put that right if they are to achieve their aims for the season.

We say: Hoffenheim 1-0 Hertha Berlin

It remains to be seen just what shape both sets of players will be in following the prolonged break. Hoffenheim were ripped apart in their most recent home outing, but this match presents a good opportunity to kickstart their campaign and push on for a European spot.

RB Leipzig vs. Freiburg (Saturday, 2.30pm)

RB Leipzig will be looking to keep up the pressure on the top two when they host Freiburg on their return to Bundesliga action this weekend.

The Red Bulls are a point behind Borussia Dortmund and five adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, while Freiburg crept back into the top half before the coronavirus pandemic struck.

We say: RB Leipzig 1-0 Freiburg

Leipzig have drawn too many games during their ongoing unbeaten run and need to hit the ground running if they are to get their title charge back on track. Freiburg have slipped down the division since their strong start, but they remain contenders for a Europa League spot and will not be easy to overcome.

Frankfurt vs. Borussia Monchengladbach (Saturday, 5.30pm)

The first post-coronavirus shutdown evening Bundesliga kickoff sees Eintracht Frankfurt take on Borussia Monchengladbach at an empty Commerzbank-Arena on Saturday.

The hosts went into lockdown on a poor run of form and with their hopes of European football all but over, whereas Gladbach are right in the mix for a Champions League spot next season.

We say: Frankfurt 1-2 Monchengladbach

This match is much more important for Monchengladbach than it is for Frankfurt right now, and with the home advantage aspect somewhat diminished by a lack of fans we are backing the visitors to come away with another three points in their bid for Champions League football.

Koln vs. Mainz (Sunday, 2.30pm)

Mainz 05 will be looking to move clear of the bottom three in the Bundesliga table when they continue their 2019-20 campaign away to FC Koln on Sunday afternoon.

The action in Germany's top flight has been on hold for more than two months due to the coronavirus outbreak, but there is a full set of fixtures this weekend, including a clash between Koln and Mainz at RheinEnergieStadion.

We say: Koln 2-0 Mainz

Koln have been very impressive on home soil since the latter stages of 2019, while they were in strong form before the action was called to a halt in March. Mainz are certainly capable of making it a difficult afternoon for the hosts, but we expect Gisdol's team to pick up all three points in relatively routine fashion.

Union Berlin vs. Bayern Munich (Sunday, 5pm)

Bayern Munich will resume their charge for an eighth successive league title when taking on Union Berlin at a behind-closed-doors Stadion An der Alten Foersterei on Sunday.

Following a two-month break owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the reigning champions and current pacesetters are looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the division.

We say: Union Berlin 0-1 Bayern Munich

Bayern cannot afford to slip up as they go in search of an eighth successive title, while Union still have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe. The hosts have been impressive at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei of late, but we are backing the visitors to grind out another win in what will be just the second competitive meeting between the sides.
