Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has called for Bundesliga officials to introduce goal-line technology as a matter or urgency.
The Bundesliga currently has no plans to implement any kind of goal-line camera until 2015, despite the Premier League rolling out the 'Goal Decision System' at all 20 grounds ahead of the new campaign.
Beckenbauer believes that the time has come for German football to re-examine their stance on technology, after Hoffenheim's Kevin Volland had a valid goal chalked off last weekend.
"We can fly to the moon and do amazing technological things so surely a camera or something can be installed which shows precisely whether the ball has crossed the line," Sport1 quotes Beckenbauer as saying.
"We are living in an age of technological development and that really belongs to it."
The German Football Association has so far sided with UEFA president Michel Platini, who has firmly rejected the use of goal-line technology in European competitions.
