Julian Nagelsmann 'agrees to become new Germany manager'

Former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann reportedly agrees to become the new manager of Germany ahead of Euro 2024.

The DFB are reportedly on the brink of appointing Julian Nagelsmann as the next manager of Germany.

Earlier this month, the decision was made to remove Hansi Flick from the chief role in the dugout, a consequence of posting just four wins over a 17-game period.

As a result, Rudi Voller took temporary charge for the international friendly with France that followed the 4-1 defeat to Japan, guiding his nation to a morale-boosting 2-1 triumph.

However, upon agreeing to take the reins for the match with the 2022 World Cup runners-up, it was known that Voller preferred not to remain at the helm in the long term.

A wide array of names have been linked with the vacant position, including the likes of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Germany legend Matthias Sammer.

Nevertheless, like has been the case with many jobs since March, Nagelsmann has been regarded as one of the top candidates to take over the role.

According to BILD, the 36-year-old has agreed terms with the DFB to become the national team's next coach.

The report suggests that Nagelsmann is willing to terminate his ongoing contract with Bayern, stopping him from continuing to earn an income from the Bundesliga champions until 2026.

That move would leave the DFB not being required to pay any compensation for his services, the main stumbling block when Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain expressed an interest over the spring and summer.

Nagelsmann is allegedly in line to earn £3.5m for the fixtures leading up to Euro 2024 and including their efforts to win a major trophy on home soil.

As it stands, Germany will conclude 2023 with encounters against USA, Mexico and Austria, with more fixtures expected to be pencilled in for March.

Should a deal be confirmed in due course, Nagelsmann will be taking on his fourth job after stints with Hoffenheim, RB Leizpig and Bayern.

In total, 169 wins and 79 draws have been recorded from 315 matches in competitions, achieving one Bundesliga title and two DFL-Supercups during that time. body check tags ::
