Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich look to continue their scintillating form on Sunday when they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the Allianz Arena.

The reigning champions have had a near-perfect start to the new season, whilst the visitors are hoping to finally turn some frustrating draws into victories.

Match preview

After dominating the Bundesliga for several years, it was hard to envisage Bayern being able to improve on their successes when new manager Julian Nagelsmann took charge in the summer.

However, the former RB Leipzig boss has overseen some incredible performances and results in his early days in charge, despite a debatably stuttering start during his first couple of matches.

An opening day draw away to Borussia Monchengladbach was hardly a poor result, especially when you consider this is the only match that the Bavarians have failed to win so far, but there were certainly signs of struggles to adapt to the new methods introduced by Nagelsmann.

The first home game of the new campaign saw the champions stumble over the line by a 3-2 scoreline against FC Koln, after almost throwing a two-goal lead away, but the table toppers have gone from strength to strength since without looking back.

As mentioned above, Gladbach are the only team to have stopped Bayern from winning so far, with huge victories over the likes of Hertha Berlin, Leipzig, Barcelona and VfL Bochum to follow in all competitions.

With 46 goals already scored in just 10 matches in league, cup and European competition, it is difficult to predict the end of this dominating run.

Frankfurt head to the Allianz Arena with little hope of achieving a result, and not just because of the calibre or form of their opponents.

Die Adler have endured a disappointing start to the campaign under new leadership of their own, after boss Oliver Glasner arrived from Wolfsburg in the summer.

After pipping his new side to the final Champions League spot with his previous employers in 2020-21, Glasner arrived with a strong reputation, but five draws and a defeat from the opening six games will not be considered an ideal start by the new man.

An opening-weekend 5-2 hammering at the hands of Borussia Dortmund has been followed by the five draws, with defensive performances since that battering not being a concern.

Instead, losing last season's top goalscorer Andre Silva to Leipzig in the summer has proven costly so far, with Frankfurt only managing to score six goals in the league up to this point.

On a more positive note, Glasner did manage to earn his first win in charge in midweek, when his side travelled to Belgium and defeated Royal Antwerp 1-0 in the Europa League, after Goncalo Paciencia netted an injury-time winner from the penalty spot.

Although Eintracht have been somewhat of a bogey team for Bayern when welcoming them on home soil, the same cannot be said when they visit the Allianz Arena, with defeats on each of their last four trips there, and 17 goals conceded in the process.

Team News

After receiving a straight red card against Greuther Furth last weekend, Benjamin Pavard will miss out on Sunday through a two-match suspension.

Niklas Sule and Josip Stanisic will compete for the right-back position in his absence, whilst Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso are doubts for the game.

Coman has recently undergone minor heart surgery, whilst Tolisso is still struggling with a calf problem.

Spare goalkeeper Sven Ulreich will definitely miss out due to his recent knee injury.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without defenders Erik Durm and Evan N'Dicka for the trip to Bayern, due to concussion and knee injuries respectively.

As well as Durm and N'Dicka, a duo of midfielders will also miss out on Sunday, with Christopher Lenz and Sebastian Rode remaining unavailable as well.

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:
Neuer, Sule, Upamecano, Hernandez, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Muller, Sane; Lewandowski

Eintracht Frankfurt possible starting lineup:
Trapp; da Costa, Hasebe, Hinteregger, Chandler; Sow, Jakic; Hauge, Santos Borre, Kostic; Lammers

We say: Bayern Munich 4-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

With the form that the home side are in, there appears to be only one winner in this one. A comfortable victory for Bayern is expected, with the misery piled on Frankfurt once more.
