Bayern Munich have reportedly placed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a list of possible replacements for under-fire manager Thomas Tuchel.
The former Chelsea head coach is facing plenty of criticism in Bavaria following three-straight defeats across the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Back-to-back domestic losses to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Bochum have allowed Xabi Alonso's men to draw eight points clear of Bayern in the title race.
Tuchel's side also have a mountain to climb on the continent, with the German champions losing the first leg of their last-16 clash against Lazio on February 14.
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are monitoring Solskjaer as a possible arrival to the managerial hotseat at the Allianz Arena.
The report claims that the Norwegian is being viewed as a short-term option for the Bavarians, who would bring the 50-year-old into the club on an interim basis until the end of the campaign.
It is understood that Bayern are also scouting managers who could lead the first-team squad for years to come, including Leverkusen boss Alonso.
The Spaniard has masterminded his side's blistering start to the campaign, with Leverkusen currently unbeaten after 22 matches in the top flight and racing towards their first-ever Bundesliga crown.
It is also believed that Bayern are considering Hansi Flick as an alternative to Solskjaer in terms of a coach who could steady the ship until the end of the term.
Despite plans being devised in the background, it is said that the Bundesliga holders wish to continue with Tuchel for the remainder of the season.
Former Manchester United boss Solskjaer has not returned to management since being relieved of his duties at Old Trafford following a harrowing 4-1 defeat to Watford in November 2021.
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has supposedly been tracking the progress of the Norwegian coach for a number of years, making him a possible option for the Bavarian giants.
With his employment under severe scrutiny, Tuchel will be hoping to turn his side's fortunes around when they face RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.
