Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has revealed that Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is unlikely to be joining the club.
Gomez has been strongly linked with a move to Italy after falling out of favour at the European champions, but Prade has insisted that the Germany international is too expensive to bring to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Prade told reporters: "There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about a situation concerning Fiorentina. Some incredible things have been said and written, even saying Gomez has undergone a medical, even though I've denied all of them.
"The situation [with] Gomez is pretty simple. There is nothing done at this moment. He is a strong player, but he is very expensive.
"Fiorentina's financial situation is stable, but we have to respect certain parameters. Those are not in place right now. We also have to follow the financial fair play regulations."
The 27-year-old only made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.
