Sports Mole previews Sunday's Serie A clash between Torino and Benevento, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Benevento will be playing their final match in Serie A before they make an immediate return to the second tier, when they travel to Torino on Sunday afternoon.

The Stregoni were relegated from the top-flight after they could only draw at home to already-relegated Crotone last weekend, while Torino survived with a goalless stalemate away at Lazio.

Match preview

After conceding 11 goals in their last two league matches, Torino managed to secure a goalless draw away at Lazio last weekend, to guarantee their safety in the top-flight.

Even though Il Toro only had 28% possession and faced 22 shots from the hosts, Davide Nicola's side managed to hold on for their 15th draw of the campaign; only Spanish outfit Real Valladolid (16) have drawn more games across Europe's top five leagues this term.

Torino are now four points clear of Sunday's opponents Benevento heading into the final game of the season and Nicola is sure to feel more relaxed on the touchline, knowing that nothing is now riding on this fixture.

Il Toro have lost only one of their last six Serie A matches against teams in the bottom three. They are also unbeaten against Benevento in the top-flight, with two wins as well as a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture in January.

Nicola's men have only won three of their 18 matches at the Olimpico di Torino this season, but claiming all three points could help them climb as high as 13th in the table, albeit six places behind where they finished last year.

Benevento's one-year spell in Serie A has now come to an end, after Torino's stalemate with Lazio as well as their 1-1 draw with Crotone last weekend.

The Stregoni got off to a promising start when Gianluca Lapadula drilled in the opening goal after 13th minutes. Following a defensive error, Vladimir Golemic was then shown a straight red card for the visitors 11 minutes later, when the centre-back wiped out Lapadula on the edge of the penalty area.

The second half was a tight affair with Filippo Inzaghi's side seemingly going to hold on for three crucial points, but even though Crotone were down to 10 men for over an hour, they managed to score a 93rd minute equaliser through Simy, breaking Benevento hearts and relegating them back to Serie B.

Benevento cannot feel too disheartened by this one performance, as their recent run of form has been one of the main reasons why their short spell in the top-flight has come to such a swift end. The Stregoni have won only one of their last 21 league games which was a surprise 1-0 victory against none other than Juventus in Turin.

In the second half of the season, Benevento have scored the fewest goals in Serie A with 16, and are also one of just two sides, along with already-relegated Parma, who have won the fewest games in this period.

Inzaghi will want to end the season on a high and a victory against Torino on Sunday would be their eighth of the campaign as well as their sixth on the road.

Team News

Torino will be without goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and left-back Nicola Murru due to respective ankle and thigh injuries.

Nicola is not expected to make too many changes to the side that drew with Lazio, although one of Simone Verdi or Daniele Baselli could be handed a start in central midfield at the expense of Sasa Lukic.

Strike Andrea Belotti, who has scored just once in his last seven league games, is set to keep his place in the side up front along with either Antonio Sanabria or Simone Zaza, who scored a brace in the 2-2 draw with the Stregoni in January.

As for Benevento, they will be without Artur Ionita who came off in the game against Crotone with a knee sprain, while Fabio Depaoli is also unavailable after dislocating his shoulder in the same match.

Bryan Dabo is set to replace Ionita in central midfield, while Gaetano Letizia may switch to right-back in Deapoli's absence, which is likely to see Federico Barba start at left-back.

Lapadula is expected to lead the line on Sunday. The 31-year-old forward, who has eight Serie A goals this season, is just one strike away from becoming the club's highest scoring player in a single top-flight campaign.

Torino possible starting lineup:
Sirigu; Izzo, Nkoulou, Bremer; Singo, Rincon, Mandragora, Verdi, Ansaldi; Zaza, Belotti

Benevento possible starting lineup:
Montipo; Letizia, Tuia, Glik, Barba; Hetemaj, Viola, Dabo; Insigne, Tello; Lapadula

We say: Torino 2-2 Benevento

If results had turned out differently last weekend, this fixture could have been a straightforward relegation showdown to see who would avoid the drop. Instead, nothing is now riding on this clash with the visitors just looking to enjoy their final match in the top-flight.

With little to separate the two sides, an entertaining score draw could be on the cards at the Olimpico di Torino on Sunday.
