Fulham's Greek striker Konstantinos Mitroglou is reportedly close to joining Benfica on loan.

Mitroglou arrived at Craven Cottage for a club-record fee of around £11m in 2014 but has failed to make a mark in London, and spent last season on loan at his former club Olympiacos.

Fulham manager Kit Symons is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "There's a good chance that Kostas will be off on loan shortly. If so it will be to Benfica but it's not confirmed yet."

Mitroglou has played just three times for Fulham since his arrival, but scored 19 times in 33 games for Olympiacos in all competitions last season.
