Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has admitted that he is not anticipating an attractive game of football when his side face Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
The Valley's playing surface has suffered during the winter months, but after it passed a pitch inspection on Friday, Clark has insisted that he is preparing his team for a battle.
The 41-year-old told the Birmingham Mail: "It is going to be a battle from start to finish because it won't be conducive to playing football the way that we want to play. You can't play one, two-touch football.
"We have got to make sure that we make the least amount of errors on a dodgy pitch. We have got to play the conditions to get us three points."
Birmingham currently sit in 18th position in the Championship table.
