Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing is on the verge of completing a move to Birmingham City, according to reports.
The 33-year-old was told last month that he is surplus to requirements at the Riverside Stadium by new manager Garry Monk.
Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, told the Birmingham Mail last month that he "would like to do something... it depends really but I would like to bring him in, he is a quality player."
According to The Mirror, Downing is now close to sealing a move to St Andrew's, returning to the city of Birmingham after a two-year spell at Aston Villa between 2009 and 2011.
Downing, who has 35 England caps but has not played for his nation since 2014, has two years left on his Boro contract.
