Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Lambert wants FA Cup replays to be scrapped

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Lambert reveals that he is in favour of scrapping FA Cup replays.

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Lambert has suggested that he would be happy to have FA Cup replays scrapped from the calendar.

The Championship outfit already have a congested schedule and it will not be until March before they have a week to prepare for a game.

On Sunday, Blackburn will take on West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and it has been reported that the English governing body is considering altering the replay rule.

"I'm not sure about moving replays to midweek, I think weekends are good days to play the FA Cup, but replays I can understand why the FA are looking at it," the Daily Mail quotes Lambert as saying.

"I think you've got to win 17 games to win the Europa League, that's nearly half a season. There's far too many games so maybe it is the way forward not to have a replay.

"We've got a classic scenario. We've got a massive game again on Wednesday. We're going to have 11 games in 30 days, which is an awful lot of football to play and keep everybody fit. I certainly don't want a replay. Either we win or we get knocked out. We've got too many games."

Blackburn played in the Championship on Tuesday night and sealed a 3-0 win over Fulham at Ewood Park.
