Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that defender Shane Duffy will miss the remainder of the season with a knee problem.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury in training on Thursday and has undergone an operation which will sideline him until the summer.
"It is devastating news both for the lad and the club," manager Gary Bowyer told Blackburn's official website.
"He is an important member of the squad and it will be a big blow for him to miss important league and cup games."
Duffy has made 22 appearances for Rovers since joining from Everton at the beginning of the campaign and had been an ever-present in their run to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
