Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has admitted that his team simply did not perform during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Rovers saw their promotion bid suffer a setback as a late goal from Claude Dielna condemned them to their first loss in 10 games.
While claiming that the overall quality of the match was poor, Bowyer concedes that his players failed to live up to the standards that they have set in recent weeks.
"I thought the manner of the three goals matched the quality of the game. They were three poor, scrappy goals," he told BBC Sport.
"We have to now realise our level of performance wasn't good enough. We've gifted the game to them with the manner of the goals they've scored."
Blackburn have the chance to get back in winning ways next Saturday when they travel to Brentford in the Championship.
