The Scot, whose previous deal runs until 2013, is believed to have put pen to paper on an extension, according to The Mirror.

Rovers fans have staged protests inside and outside their Ewood Park stadium in recent months in an attempt to oust the 44-year-old.

The club are currently 19th in the Premier League table.
