Jordan Rhodes has admitted that he is desperate to play in the Premier League and feels that he may be able to do so with Blackburn Rovers next season.

The Lancashire outfit are currently 11th in the Championship table, seven points adrift of the last playoff spot with seven games of the campaign remaining.

Rhodes has scored 22 times this season to enhance his growing reputation and garner attention from several top-flight clubs.

The 24-year-old is keen to test himself at the top level, but has insisted that this is a shared ambition inside the Ewood Park dressing room as the club attempt to bounce back from their relegation in 2012.

"When we wake up in the morning that's what everyone at this club is striving for," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"This club deserves Premier League status again and if we go on a phenomenal run between now and the end of the season you never know - but it might be next season now.

"But we'll take one game at a time, try and do our best and with that mentality in mind we'll see where we are come May 3."

Rhodes is expected to start for Rovers when they host playoff rivals Ipswich Town on Saturday.
