Sports Mole looks ahead to Saturday's Championship clash between bottom-of-the-table Blackpool and mid-table Sheffield Wednesday at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday meet in a Championship clash at Bloomfield Road this weekend with little at stake for either side.

The Tangerines are not yet mathematically consigned to relegation, but their fate was surely sealed by their 3-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic last weekend.

Another defeat followed on Wednesday night as Birmingham City got one over on their former manager Lee Clark, leaving the Seasiders 15 points from safety with 11 games remaining.

They are now winless in seven, picking up just two points from a possible 21 in that time, and while Clark has refused to give up hope until the team's destiny is officially confirmed, he will surely be starting to plan for League One in the coming weeks.

The hosts have conceded 19 goals in that winless run - an average of almost three per game - with nine of those coming in their last three home matches.

Bournemouth loanee Miles Addison made his debut during the midweek defeat to Birmingham and is expected to keep his place in the starting XI, with Clark having no new injury concerns to worry about.

Youngster Henry Cameron and Andrea Orlandi are still sidelined, while Charles Dunne serves the last of his three-game ban.

Wednesday, meanwhile, remain in the top half of the table but, with 15 points separating them from both the playoffs and the relegation zone, staying in the top 12 will be their main goal for the remaining months of the campaign.

The Owls have only picked up two wins from their last 10 games, the most recent of which came against current league leaders Middlesbrough last weekend.

They failed to build on that victory, however, falling to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night to drop below Gary Bowyer's side in the table.

Wednesday have lost three of their last four away games, but their record on the road for the entire season is an impressive one - only the top five in the table have picked up more points on their travels.

Jose Semedo is a doubt for the visitors having been forced off before half time in midweek, with Chris Maguire likely to start having scored the Owls' goal against Blackburn.
