Sunderland are reportedly in pole position to sign Blackpool winger Matt Phillips.
The 21-year-old Scotland international has 12 months remaining on his current contract at Bloomfield Road and Tangerines boss Ian Holloway is keen for him to extend that deal.
Wigan Athletic, Reading, Everton and Aston Villa are also interested in Phillips, but Sunderland are leading the race for the player's signature, according to the Daily Star.
Phillips made 33 Championship appearances last season, scoring seven goals.
