Blackpool are on course for their first away victory of the season after Michael Jacobs's goal put the Tangerines ahead at the break.
The on-loan winger from Wolverhampton Wanderers put the visitors ahead inside 10 minutes, after he latched on to a through-ball from Jamie O'Hara and rifled it past Ben Amos in the Bolton Wanderers net.
The home side responded immediately as Barry Bannan's header was cleared off the line shortly after Jacobs's opener.
The Tangerines had a host of chances to double their lead but ultimately failed to break down the Bolton defence for a second time.
