Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic at The Macron Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers will hope to get back to winning ways in front of their own supporters against Charlton Athletic tomorrow night.

The Lancashire side conceded late on against Norwich City on Saturday, but will fancy their chances against a Charlton side that has failed to win in their previous three games.

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton's slender hopes of finishing in the top half of the table suffered a massive blow at the weekend as Gary Hooper's 93rd-minute goal gave Norwich a 2-1 win.

After Adam le Fondre equalised for The Trotters, the home side looked most likely to find a winner, but some lapse defending gifted Hooper a late goal.

That was Bolton's first home defeat since February, and only their second since October, although they haven't won at home since they beat Millwall 2-0 in March.

They currently sit 17th in the Championship table and trail 12th-placed Cardiff City by six points.

Manager Neil Lennon will be keen to use the final four games to decide who he wants to keep over the summer, although striker Emile Heskey has already said that he wants to stay beyond this campaign.

After tomorrow's game with Charlton, Bolton face back-to-back games against promotion contenders Brentford and Bournemouth before a final-day clash with Birmingham City.

Victory over Charlton could lift Bolton to as high as 15th in the table, while they could fall to 18th behind Reading if they lose.

Charlton Athletic

In contrast to Bolton, Charlton will feel that a top-half finish is within reach despite their shaky run of form.

The South London side haven't won since they beat Reading 3-2 on March 21, while they drew 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday last time out.

Prior to this mini run without a win, Guy Luzon's side had been on a hot streak with seven wins from nine matches. However, they will rue their failure to win more games over the course of the season as they have drawn 17 times.

Luzon will feel that they can mount a promotion challenge next season if he can buy the right players in the summer to complement his already strong squad.

They currently sit 11th in the table, and are just two points off ninth-placed Nottingham Forest, although 15th-placed Leeds United are just four points behind in a congested mid-table.

The Addicks finish their season against Leeds and Birmingham City, before they host league leaders Bournemouth on the final day of the season.

Team News

Bolton midfielder Mark Davies could make his first appearance since November after recovering from a knee injury.

Davies returned to the bench during their game with Norwich last time out, but he failed to make it on to the pitch.

Centre-back Matt Mills is expected to return after a recent hamstring injury, and could replace Dorian Dervite in defence.

However, Neil Lennon will be without Craig Davies (hamstring), Darren Pratley (hamstring), Max Clayton (ankle), Zach Clough (shoulder), David Wheater (hamstring), Marc Tierney (broken leg) and Simeon Slavchev (ankle).

Charlton also have a lenghty injury list, but midfielder Johnnie Jackson is close to making his return from a broken leg. The game at The Macron Stadium may come too soon for Jackson, but he is expected to feature before the end of the season.

Callum Harriott (ankle) and winger Franck Moussa (knee) are definitely ruled out, but striker Tony Watt is knocking on the door for a recall.

Midfielder Chris Eagles could play against his former club.

Bolton Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Bogdan, Vela, Mills, Ream, Moxey, Davies, Walker, Feeney, Gudjohnsen, Heskey, Le Fondre.

Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Henderson, Solly, Ben-Haim, Gomez, Fox, Gudmundsson, Cousins, Diarra, Buyens, Watt, Vetokele.

Head To Head

Charlton claimed the three points when the sides met earlier in the season as George Tucudean and Johnnie Jackson scored in a 2-1 victory.

The Londoners are unbeaten against their opponents in four games, although they haven't won at The Macron Stadium since August 2002.

Bolton have the better overall record in the fixture with 39 wins from 81 matches, despite one win in eight, while Charlton have claimed victory on 27 occasions.

We say: Bolton Wanderers 1-1 Charlton Athletic

As both sides have struggled of late, a draw in the most likely scenario tomorrow night which would take Charlton's draw tally to 18 this season. Bolton have a decent home record but have only won one in five games, while the Addicks' form has dipped recently.
