Cedric Yambere scored the only goal of the game as Bordeaux pulled away from the Ligue 1 relegation zone with a 1-0 victory over Guingamp.
The winning goal arrived just after the hour mark and proved to be enough to relieve the pressure on Willy Sagnol, whose side climbed above the visitors in the table.
Bordeaux dominated possession from the first whistle, with the only threat from Guingamp arriving when Younousse Sankhare sent a 30-yard strike just wide of the top corner.
Despite controlling the tempo of the game, Bordeaux struggled to make the right decisions in attacking areas and missed a good chance when Henri Saivet headed wide from Wahbi Khazri's cross.
Jonas Lossl then came to the away side's rescue to get a strong hand to a powerful strike from Adam Ounas, who was gifted space on the edge of the box.
It was a similar story in the second half as Bordeaux continued to ask questions of the Guingamp defence, and the lead belonged to the hosts when Yambere capitalised on poor defending to head home from close range as a Khazri corner caused problems for the visitors.
Sloan Privat's inch-perfect through ball should have set up the equaliser for Guingamp when he managed to find Nicolas Benezet in the box, but the striker was only able to rattle the post with his shot.
More pressure arrived as Guingamp desperately searched for a late response, but Bordeaux held on impressively to collect all three points.
