Sports Mole previews Monday's National League clash between Boreham Wood and Wrexham, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Boreham Wood did Wrexham a favour on Saturday after they beat Stockport County, but the hosts will not be as charitable when they play host to the Dragons on Monday.

The visitors currently sit in second place, but with three matches left to play they are just one point adrift of the league leaders Stockport.

Match preview

Boreham Wood still have lingering hopes of reaching the National League playoffs, with eight points separating them from the top seven.

A playoff finish may seem unlikely, but the Wood will be looking to clinch maximum points in their remaining four matches to give themselves the best possible chance.

Although they still have an outside chance, Boreham Wood's season promised so much more when at the end of February they occupied third position, but a 10-game winless league run saw them plummet down the National League table.

Two wins from their previous three matches will offer encouragement for the Wood, and their latest victory would have certainly provided a confidence boost.

On Saturday, Luke Garrard's side became the first side to beat Stockport at Edgeley Park since October, with goals from Dennon Lewis and Jamal Fyfield helping Boreham Wood to a 2-1 win, and they will now be aiming to clinch back-to-back victories on Monday.

Stockport's defeat to Boreham Wood allowed Wrexham to close the gap at the top of the National League table to just one point.

The league leaders may possess a game in hand over the Dragons, but with the top two still to face off before the end of the season, automatic promotion remains a very real possibility for Wrexham.

They enter Monday's contest full of confidence after they followed up a 6-1 win over Weymouth with a narrow 1-0 victory against Southend United on Saturday.

A second-half strike from Ollie Palmer secured the three points at the weekend, and Phil Parkinson's side will now be aiming for a third consecutive victory as they look to keep the pressure on Stockport.

Wrexham are the current highest scorers in the National League, and they will need all that firepower if they are to become only the third team to win a league game at Meadow Park this season.

Team News

Despite the quick turnaround between games, Garrard may reward those who started against Stockport by naming an unchanged lineup for Monday's contest.

Scott Boden will be looking to add to the 11 league goals that he has scored this season when he partners Tyrone Marsh in the frontline.

As for the visitors, they are set to be without the services of Callum McFadzean and Aaron Hayden due to injury issues.

Wrexham could also name an unchanged starting XI, which would see Palmer and Paul Mullin continue their prolific partnership up front, with 27 league goals between the pair this season.

Boreham Wood possible starting lineup:
Ashmore; Stephens, Evans, Fyfield; Smith, Comley, Lewis, Mendy; Marsh, Boden

Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Dibble; Hall-Johnson, Tozer, Cleworth; French, Davies, Young, Jones, McAlinden; Mullin, Palmer

We say: Boreham Wood 1-2 Wrexham

Boreham Wood have lost just two home league games this season, but we think that an in-form Wrexham side will do enough to edge out their hosts on Monday as the Dragons look to continue their promotion push.
