Brentford have slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Boreham Wood in their opening pre-season outing.
The Bees, who now head to Germany for a week-long training programme, pulled one back late on through Lewis Macleod after falling two goals behind at Meadow Park.
It took 18 minutes before the hosts opened the scoring when Bruno Andrade got on the end of a loose ball wide on the left and sent a fine finish into the top corner.
Republic of Ireland Under-21s international defender John Egan, who joined Brentford earlier this summer after rejecting a new deal at Gillingham, came close to levelling up only to be denied from close range by Grant Smith.
Boreham Wood were two to the good just short of the hour, however, as Billy Clifford converted at the second time of asking after initially being denied by Jack Bonham from the penalty spot.
Dean Smith did have one positive to take from the match four minutes from time when Harlee Dean's delivery was met by Macleod inside the box to make it 2-1, but that proved to be it as the National League side held out for the win.
