Marco Reus and Jude Bellingham were among the scorers as Borussia Dortmund opened their Champions League campaign with a commanding 3-0 win over FC Copenhagen this evening.

The German outfit never looked in any danger in the Group G curtain-raiser, with the goals from Reus and Bellingham coming either side of a Raphael Guerreiro strike on the stroke of half time.

Dortmund began a club-record seventh successive Champions League campaign in style, although tougher tests are to come in Group G with Manchester City and Sevilla making up the pool.

Reus extended his club record of European goals to 27 with the opener 10 minutes before half time, collecting Julian Brandt's pass before cutting inside past a defender and firing a low strike into the bottom corner.

One quickly became two seven minutes later, with Reus playing a part in the buildup before Guerreiro exchanged passes with Gio Reyna to draw out the keeper, leaving him with a simple finish into the empty net.

Copenhagen had never previously lost their opening Champions League group game in their four such seasons in the competition, but the result was put well and truly beyond doubt when Bellingham added a third eight minutes from time.

A slick one-touch move saw Bellingham play the ball out to Reyna, who returned the favour for his second assist of the night as the England international swept his finish home.

Dortmund will next face RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga this weekend, before making the trip to face one of the tournament favourites Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium next week.

Copenhagen, meanwhile, host La Liga outfit Sevilla in their second Group G outing next week. body check tags ::
